The Challenge

The unexpected relocation of our men’s shelter and closure of our cafeteria until February 2026, as well as unstable access to food assistance programs and growing need within the community, has heightened the need for dignified care, resources, and meals during this holiday season.

Our Response

The Tacoma Rescue Mission is continuing to provide all regular services to our shelter guests. We have pivoted our meals operation to continue to serve the public despite reduced daily distribution. Our annual Thanksgiving celebration and meal will be held at the Tacoma Dome for an estimated 1,000 + attendees. The Tacoma Rescue Mission is dedicated to serving this community, no matter what obstacles stand in our path. Nobody should go hungry, especially not during the holidays.

Volunteer at Thanksgiving Dinner at the Tacoma Dome

We are calling on the community to come together in an extraordinary act of compassion and care. With over 100,000 Pierce County residents recently losing government food assistance, the need for meals and support has never been greater.

To meet this growing challenge, we are hosting a massive community Thanksgiving dinner at the Tacoma Dome, aiming to serve more than 1,000 individuals and families who are struggling during this season of gratitude.

Many generous community organizations and individuals have already stepped up by donating food and helping cover the costs to feed our hungry neighbors. Their compassion is making a real difference. However, food insecurity and hunger challenges are expected to continue throughout the holiday season, and we need your help to keep meeting this critical need.

This is more than a meal, it’s an opportunity to restore hope and dignity for our neighbors in need. Together, we can make Thanksgiving a day of warmth, community, and gratitude.

Our Thanksgiving Community Dinner will be on Thanksgiving day, 11/27/25, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Tacoma Dome. Please help spread the word to our friends on the street, families and individuals facing food insecurity, and anyone who is left wondering where they will get their next meal this holiday.

We also want to highlight and share our overwhelming gratitude with the Tacoma Dome for offering their space at no cost to make this community meal possible.
